Practice Gently Opening the Heart

1/30/2014

Oil the hinges on the doors of your heart.  Make sure they work with ease and do not squeak.  We have not been trained to love unconditionally, especially to our self.  The stronghold approach opens to relationship with demands and expectations and slams shut our door when we feel hurt or misunderstood.  This is hard on the heart, so it pulls away, to the point that we may not even know we have one.  It becomes invisible and the stronghold reaction proves that love is not safe.  It gets complicated. We need to get it really simple.

Start by acknowledging love for yourself. No matter what you are feeling, offer respect, acceptance and understanding. Listen to your personality, staying open to nourishment. It is important to remember that it is not so much what you feel that is important but that you are feeling.  Acknowledging your feelings will open your awareness as you soften.  This  allows new perspective as the intensity eases.   Basically you are learning the difference between your heart and your will, often misunderstood because of the need to control.  Be Gentle and practice Acceptance.

"We need to get it really simple." I love that thought. It is counter to most of my life training and I yearn for it. Lately, I have been feeling peace which turns out to be a "simple" state of grace and quietude.
