Soul Awakenings Newsletter
Spring 2007

This newsletter is devoted to the teachings found in the Bliss Wave correspondence course. This is a study program created as our contribution to the pursuit of happiness. It has provided an amazing education for those who join. It consists of teaching and practices to stabilize the heart in love and clear old karma. The whole process has been so valuable that we decided to extend this teaching into the lectures and workshops for the spring tour, and share components of the work through this newsletter. You may apply the teaching here to your own life and feel free to join us in the next study program if it calls you.

Happiness is a natural state and needs the right environment to develop. The Bliss training teaches us how to gather the strength to live in our hearts and stay connected to our higher self. The whole process is a reclaiming of our essence. The training creates a supportive environment that strengthens our ability to live in love. It directs powerful healing forces to the places where we still see through the eyes of pain and loss. To accelerate healing, it provides simple techniques that help us remember to tell the truth with compassion and find the greater good. We learn how to dissolve negative karma while taking responsibility for our purpose of being here. The premise is that when we are living connected to our higher self, willing to stay centered in the truth with compassion, happiness is a natural outcome.

Bliss is what we feel when the energy of our spirit is flowing free. This flow instantaneously activates the heart. It is actually stimulated by giving. It creates an extended field of awareness that we call a glow. Its range of expression moves from deep gratitude as we feel the awe of creation to the dramatic forces of our creativity birthing itself anew. Bliss is the experience of divine elixir as it penetrates our awareness.

To ride the waves of bliss skillfully, we learn how to be grounded and centered in the truth, and feel the support and power of spirit as we drink in the elixir of our divine connection. As lofty as this may sound, it is not that hard to develop. Surfing provides an example. Good surfers find the perfect balance point on the board to any current the ocean offers, and know when to move forward and when to be still. So aligned to the movement of the water, they merge with the ocean itself, always maintaining precious balance. If they lose concentration, they are knocked into the great ocean. Regaining equilibrium, they regroup and move toward the next wave. It is a matter of alignment, practice and commitment. In the Bliss Wave program, we are learning this alignment on an emotional and spiritual level as well, learning how to keep our balance, as the waves of universal flux challenge us to express our essence and create our dreams.

Everyone comes with a purpose. In the Bliss Wave program, we identify what our purpose actually is and acknowledge the gifts that our service brings. By naming our purpose, we are able to track the flow of our passion and feel its inspiration. Our dreams are fertilized with creative power. When we align our dream to our higher self through our intentions, we magnetize the images into thought forms that actualize into our world. This imaging process makes our manifesting ability very strong, and because we are in the flow of our higher self, the process feels effortless. Opportunities arise that help us to clarify our intentions so that we can create what is really best for our temperament. In this way, bliss serves creation.

There are peak moments when we feel one with our spiritual flow and other times, we are missing it and are longing for the connection. The intensity of this longing must be clearly directed. It’s no use expecting another person to be our connection, or be our source. Our friends love us when we are touching the essence within ourselves, but they become frustrated and antagonistic when we try to make them responsible to be the essence we crave. No one is capable of being our source or doing our work for us, which is why there is so much frustration around this tender point. Only through connection to our higher self can we heal our hurt. It gets even more complicated when we project our old wounds and hurts onto others, holding them as the ultimate reason for our unhappiness. Our friends and therapists can help create the loving environment to help us surrender, to allow love, but the essential realization comes from within.

Looking within takes courage and discipline. We may encounter anger, sadness and deep-pressed feelings, like resentment and bitterness, which have great power. These emotions often voice the part of our self that feels helpless. They mark places where we are denying our essence or doing things that do not serve the greater good. Dark emotions give feedback that something is wrong, like the swelling that comes when we have a thorn in our finger. The pain signals us to take action to correct the problem. Bringing unfinished business into the light allows the deeper truth to be revealed.

As we progress, we discover that every emotion, light and dark, offers energy to the pursuit of happiness. As we become skillful as an interpreter, the deeper purpose of what we are learning becomes clear. In knowing how to remove the thorns in our perception, we can accept what is not working and take responsibility to find a new way to approach it, be it an old problem or habit. Breaking old reactive habits takes diligence and a willingness to bring in new awareness. It requires patience and an acceptance of being uncomfortable for a while, as we establish the new pattern.

The anchor that will establish the alignment with our spirit in this new space is the heart. When we are willing to stabilize in our heart center, making unconditional love our first response, we have a firm footing on higher ground. A stable heart allows us to feel a full range of emotions and find value, depth and celebration. We learn to be grounded in reality, present to what is going on within and around us. We learn to take care of ourselves, capable of generating light for others and ourselves. Alchemically, the heart is designed to keep the balance of light and dark, to provide deeper meaning, the bigger picture, strengthening wisdom, compassion and truth. It allows us to dip into raw forces our darkness bring and offer light for transformation. The heart’s wisdom gives us the strength to see the disease without becoming it. In time, the heart becomes home, the mid point between the personality and higher self. The power of love helps us stay grounded in the truth and find beauty in each moment. We bring compassion to all that we see.

In the study program, we design a daily practice of self-nourishment and alignment to the source; to ease the unconscious ways we diminish our light. The feedback from those who have joined the program acknowledged the strength it has brought to help face challenges and pain. It has brought the blessings of daily life into focus. Participants have said they feel lighter, happier and feel they have more resources available. They flowed more in their work projects and their relationships. Skills were improved as they learned how to ride the waves of creativity and the bliss it brings.

For me, I was able to establish a new relationship with my higher self. My internal dialogue shifted to a new level, and wisdom became more available. I learned to stop internalizing the burdens of others and took responsibility for my reactions. My commitment was to claim my own space, to work out conflicts quicker and not get caught in mental anguish or repetitive thinking. The greatest blessing was to be able to claim my purpose, which is my ability to generate happiness and love into all that I do. I am forever grateful to these teachings and the gifts they bring.
