LIVING IN THE PRESENT
|
|
|
|
Right now we
all need clarity, nourishment, strength and courage. We have to open
ourselves to new ways of being. We are used to living from the will
and striving to be in control. Often we measure our own worth by what
we have, rather than what we have contributed. Times are changing.
We deeply crave a world of the heart, a world where our spirit lives
freely and openly in the moment. Old systems have been falling apart
for some time now. Either we shift into a new system or change will
be forced upon us. This transition time allows us to release the old
structures and welcome the heart and spirit. Everyone wants to feel
safe and happy. By learning to live in the moment, we become more
self-reliant. We get used to reaching to spiritual resources for support.
We have to be present to receive the gift.
How can I become more present?
First, take a conscious breath and really notice what is happening.
Listen. Become receptive and aware of the emotional and mental attitudes
within and around you. Breath helps spirit become more connected to
your heart; you become more centered and grounded. The personality
and the heart align, which allows you to move out of reaction to circumstances
into a place of setting clear intention for what you wish to accomplish.
Often your perception will be heightened as you move beyond the thinking
and doing mind. You will notice that you feel more spacious. When
you are totally present, you simply feel more alive.
What happens when I am more present?
Often the first layer you acknowledge is what you are experiencing.
What is affecting you at this moment? Going deeper, you discover what
feelings are present. You must be willing to truly feel the feelings
in order to get grounded. Sometimes this can be uncomfortable. As
you penetrate beyond the story, ask yourself what this situation is
allowing you to unravel. Often circumstances come into life that allow
us to feel things that have been hidden for years. The good news is
that you are now ready to activate the healing process. By taking
responsibility for your feelings, (that were created in your past),
rather than projecting them onto someone else, you claim the power
to respond to the unmet needs that are causing pain. This is good
news! Emotions are bringing up unfinished business of the past that
must be resolved. If you can find the origin of the unmet need, that
place where you shut down and decided it was hopeless, then you are
more able to offer compassion to the part of you that has lost its
voice.
Naming the feelings and taking responsibility for what you need allows
you to take ownership for what you are learning, instead of blaming
the circumstances. By being grounded and present, you can ask spirit
to intervene. This brings compassion and healing, courage and clarity
into consciousness.
You then live in present time with the willingness to get your needs
met through spirit first. You clarify the kind of support you yearn
for and communicate as clearly as possible to others the best way
they can interact with you. As you allow more of your heart's voice,
you feel presence growing within. The heart literally becomes the
grounding cord of spirit. You become more confident of the safety
and protection that is available to you.
This training brings tremendous insight as it allows you to move out
of reaction, even when you are hitting old belief structures. You
learn how to embrace old beliefs and wounds with more compassion.
You can celebrate the fact that walls are being removed and that this
is good. As these outdated systems come tumbling down it feels as
if your world is shattering--it is! This dissolution is happening
because it no longer serves you to live in these belief systems. When
you understand the process, you move away from the old matrix of protection
and into the new matrix of truth and freedom. Each time you return
to the heart, you release the pattern of fear and allow the freedom
of truth.
How do I move out of fear?
Love expands - fear contacts. Love brings warmth and draws
to us the good, even in difficult situations. Fear is for protection,
acknowledging that something is not right. Love heals - fear protects.
When you can honor both of these currents, not making fear wrong,
or idealizing love, you are able to stay balanced in the heart in
a realistic way. As you accept that there are gifts within each moment,
even when the moment is uncomfortable, this awareness has a very powerful
healing effect. It grounds spirit into action. By releasing our need
to control, which comes from fear, the flow of acceptance can move
throughout our energy field. This opens the door for heart presence. What
is the function of the will and the focused mind? The will expresses
individual awareness, analyses the world, asks questions, and processes
our memory and beliefs. If we are living out of an old memory, the
will helps identify the origin of the memory and the emotions that
are rising to the surface. It is the processor of information. A focused
mind is the concentration that directs our awareness, sets intentions,
and projects into the future. I think of it as a locator button as
it helps identify where I am and what is affecting me.
The focused mind, an aspect of will, directs our attention, keeping
us on task. A focused mind stays very concentrated on its object of
intention. It is magnetic, drawing to us what we are focusing on.
When we listen through a focus filter, we hear what we want to hear
to support our point. When the will center is over activated, one
becomes overwhelmed and exhausted. A healthy will provides the focus
to keep us well looked after, safe and nourished. It helps us to accomplish
what we have come to do.
How does the heart and will function together? The
heart must be engaged in order to bring integrity and balance.
The heart and will are different dimensions of consciousness.
The mind holds information. The heart experiences the essence. The
heart is where we greet our spirit, the knower, which brings the answers
to our life questions as well as the guidance to follow through. Heart
and will must connect and help each other. The heart signals when
we are not being true to ourselves, when we have moved out of our
center. When we lose our heart, we go back to the will function. This
causes us to lose the essence of the exchange. Being in our heart
allows love, meaning and aliveness. The heart dimension is soft, clear
and capable to know the truth and be aware of the bigger picture.
The heart always knows the gift and deeper message if we are willing
to listen.
The positive function of the will is that of a magnetic center, which
brings to us what we focus upon. When our heart space is active, it
sets that focus of love, compassion, and truth. The heart leads and
the will comes into service. The clarity of these two together constitutes
our integrity, our sense of well-being and the joy of wholeness.
How do we deal with old reactions, when everything
feels out of control?
When we are in unconscious reaction, we lose the creative
connection to spirit. It leaves us feeling helpless, hopeless and
angry. Most suffering comes from either undigested emotional experiences
from the past or unreal expectations projected into the future. These
two feed off each other. When the personality signals helplessness,
it is telling the truth. It really does not have the power to change.
In order to shift from hopelessness, we have to embrace a new way
of being that comes from the heart. There are spiritual resources
beyond the emotional and mental parts of personality. Our knowing,
which speaks from the heart, brings wisdom, the larger perspective.
We feel supported by our spirit to accomplish what needs to happen.
We must use the feelings of helplessness as a signal, a call for help,
and a message from our source. If we ask for spiritual assistance,
it will come. That is the law.
We are changing, transforming in ways that we may not be able to consciously
understand. It is crucial that we learn to rely on the wisdom of the
heart and our spirit resources to comprehend the bigger picture. Our
sight will literally change when we look through the lens of the heart;
the world gets brighter. It is like the Sun coming out. As we center
into our heart, our spirit feels present and available, like a good
lover and friend. The magic of transformation happens when the will
and the heart act in partnership together.
You will find that when you call on higher awareness, it is there.
We may not always have the ability to recognize this larger presence,
but as we open and surrender our old position, the presence of love
and support becomes obvious. We honor the process with gratitude.
Focusing into principles like love, truth, compassion and grace bring
us the guidance we need to make the shifts necessary to embrace the
new world paradigm. These qualities bring the energy and inspiration
needed. Our path is revealed. This whole process is one of bringing
spirit into consciousness, bringing presence and the power of the
usually invisible world into light, and into awareness.
