Walking your Destiny

As our spirit awakens, our true path of destiny reveals itself.

When I meet with people in session, there’s a question that arises most every time, around a yearning deep inside. It's hard to put into words. It's often shrouded in mystery and pain. Usually fear is present. Yet all of this is accompanied by a compelling force that drives the person to overcome the fear. My job is to teach how to use the energy that is released to experience deeper meaning in these feelings, identifying where they originate and find the truth hidden there.

Our connection allows an exploration through a maze of light and shadow. We enter together into a mystery, whose unveiling brings insight, new meaning and purpose to life. As something shifts in consciousness, a truth is sensed that is greater than words, birthing a new level of trust. The discoveries are rich in texture, complicated yet obvious as deeper truth is revealed within our conversation. We see together the greater plan of destiny unfolding. Layered within all the trials and tribulations presented in life, the path of the soul shines through. I would like to share some of the highlights of this exploration.

Our true destiny does not unfold by accident; it comes when the dream living inside our heart has permission to start generating the power of actualization. Initially, this process of awakening can create confusion in our personality. This shift to live in our hearts, listening to our spirit, insists that we let go of old familiar conditionings and awaken to a new way of being. Restlessness and dissatisfaction mark this shift, as the old world loses it luster. However, we can never just run away from unfinished business. This call for change is not just a leap into the unknown, leaving everything behind. We have to clear the old patterns of reaction, because without a change of attitude, any change of circumstances eventually brings us back to the same old story. When we take responsibility for the hurts that keep us stuck, we start to get a clear picture of who we can become.

Great compassion must be given to the parts of the old conditioning that we are stuck in. This propels us into a great ‘unpeeling’ process. In sorting through old conditioned voices, we learn to open our feelings in a deeper way and find our voice of truth. Then it becomes obvious where we are living in someone else’s expectations. The fantasy starts to dissolve. Whatever is no longer needed begins to melt away. This releases our creativity for real action, it builds vitality, and we find the courage to tell the truth about what we really want and need in our life.

As the ground of reality is established and the sense of inner knowing deepens, we come to the realization that knowing has always existed, that a power greater than the ego was always there. It can be a humbling realization; that more than just the ego is running the show. This recognition impels us to embrace what we call the higher self, that greater knowing that lives in objective awareness, able to see beyond confusion and attachments, into a deeper truth. The higher self brings wisdom and a clear sense of our destiny.

If we want to commit to a path of spiritual evolution, learning how to trust the higher self is imperative. The higher self speaks through the heart. We recognize it through feeling and tone, as a presence. It does not harm, shame or overpower. It speaks simply the obvious. It imparts a wisdom that does not hide darkness; in fact it points out the weakness of our self and others, with compassion and clarity. With right relationship, our higher self mentors our personality towards the truth, and this is what sets the path of our destiny. We come to realize that the source of our inner guidance is the mystery we all sense.

Walking an evolutionary path is not easy. When we commit to our spiritual journey, our inner guidance will lead us into life lessons that are direct, intense. We will be given opportunities to learn and develop our emotional attitudes and spiritual commitments. If we are not able to digest them the first time, they will be offered again and again in new situations, like movies repeating themselves. When we embrace what we have come to learn, we gain courage and willingness to face our dark side, stepping into the fire that burns the old patterns away. We begin to discover our power in the moment.

Now we can really see. We recognize our deeper dreams are possible. We feel the power they hold. We may recognize these dreams from our childhood, when our creative nature lived more freely. These dreams come as maps from our higher self, directing us toward our spiritual enfoldment. If we came here to contribute a specific quality, to share a special gift, our soul nudges us toward its fulfillment.

The guidance that comes as we follow our dreams may direct us to a change in circumstance, a shift in consciousness. We will feel its rightness. As we follow this direction, we will get confirmation from the world every step of the way. Moving in the deeper flow of our spirit, with an open heart brings empowerment, clear movement and certainty to our walk in life. We learn to trust the deeper process even though we may not understand all the details. Our commitment to the truth creates a momentum that magnetizes new opportunities and we experience a magical flow that brings all that we need, unfolding our next creative adventure.

A great deal of the depression and anger being expressed in the world drama today comes from our inability to honor the soul and live our dreams. Pain and self-destruction are prevalent because these inner awakenings are not being dealt with in constructive ways. Blind to the knowledge of how to generate the life force to move forward, the personality remains stuck in numbness and false security. Darkness becomes a safe place for the ego to hide yet this comes at a price. Destructive tendencies eat up creative life force and enslave the mind.

Know that there will be many wake-up calls, first through insights and gentle nudges and if this does not work, through sickness, accidents and pain. This call from spirit brings awareness of the need to stop hiding and embrace significant change. Every individual who answers the call will make a difference. It requires persistence and courage to take this step, especially when pain is all that has ever been known. Only one thing is for certain: the pain in resisting life is much greater than living the solution. And that is learned when one embraces life and sets out on the journey.

There are important keys to awakening your destiny:

Look carefully into what creates separation in your life, what takes your vitality away.

Penetrate to the cause of all your actions. Blame no one for your behavior. Do not justify your action. Own it and draw all the power of the situation back into your center.

Take responsibility for your connection to spirit. Remember who you are and why you are here. Do not let laziness or lack of faith get in the way of what you know is right.
