When we are hurt, we protect. It is a natural and expected response to pain. On a good day, our awareness penetrates the hurt and allows us to understand, to see the bigger picture and find deeper truth. If we are not able to process pain, we are in danger of projecting the hurt expectations onto the people we love. We take the situation that happened and expect it to happen again, not believing that the world could be any other way. Its tricky. Learning curves can feel very twisty.
So what does forgiveness do? Forgiveness brings the spirit back into our body. It allows us to give again, as the word speaks. We become for>giving, learning how to open and allow our feelings to digest. When we get tired of hurting or being in reaction, we allow spirit to penetrate the hurt, which softens our response and helps find a new way to open. With willingness to soften, our spirit enters the closed doors of the injury and begins to rearrange the room, allowing us to see our part and what we are to learn. We may need to assert a healthy no, face the buried pain of an old memory, or learn acceptance of how things were and how they molded our perception. Our spirit massages us with courage, clarity, understanding and mercy. We accept that we have been hurt but that we are still here.
It is time to call for a new Spring, a new beginning.
